Bentley S1 H.J. Mulliner Drophead Coupe

This H.J.Mulliner drophead coupe is the only right-hand-drive car built to Design No 7492. Just one other was made, a left-hand-drive car, so the pair is about as rare as an S1 body gets. Chassis B20HA was completed in September 1959, a late-production S1 with power steering, larger carburettors and dual brake reservoirs, plus a power hood.

It still wears its original Shell Grey with a red leather interior, the paint restored to the original colour after a spell in blue under a previous owner. The first owner was Sir Bernard Docker, who bought it for his wife Norah. It later spent 25 years with Maureen, Marchioness of Dufferin and Ava, whose silver Cartier St Christopher badge remains on the glovebox door. The car still carries its original registration, XXA 262.

The odometer reads just under 53,000 miles, which the dealer believes is the total from new. The car has had a mechanical review by a Bentley specialist and comes with a history file of invoices, articles and correspondence. It also has its tools, original handbook, maintenance instructions and the original coachwork drawings.
