Bentley S1 H.J. Mulliner Drophead Coupe

This S1 wears H.J. Mulliner's Design No 7409 drophead coupé body, an all-aluminium style of which only twelve were built. Just five of those were left-hand drive, and chassis B122LFA is the fourth of them. It is a late-specification car, with factory power steering and a power-operated hood, plus the larger carburettors and improved brakes introduced during S Series production.

First supplied through the New York Rolls-Royce agent in 1958, it was originally finished in Whitehall grey with a red interior and hood. Its owners have included the abstract expressionist painter Robert Motherwell and the Cincinnati businessman William J. Williams. It later passed through the collections of John Cory and Bob Lee. The page states that the ownership history is complete from new.

Vantage Motor Works in Miami restored it in the early 1990s to concours standard, changing the colour to the period-correct shell grey with red leather. It has been used sparingly and shown since. It comes with its handbook, tools, copy chassis cards and history file. It is currently registered and located in the United States, and no mileage is stated.
