Bentley S1 Continental H.J. Mulliner Fastback

This is chassis BC28BG, the fifty-fifth of 97 right-hand-drive S1 Continental Fastbacks built by H.J. Mulliner to Design No 7400. The all-aluminium body was completed in September 1956, and the car was built as the coachbuilder's own "trials car". A letter from Arthur Johnstone, then H.J. Mulliner's managing director, says he and his father used it personally. It still carries its original registration, 10 JML.

Its first private owner took it in 1957 through Jack Barclay. It later passed through a small number of hands, including a Bentley Drivers Club regional chairman, and in 2010 it was shipped to Australia for an outback rally. In 2017 it was repainted in Tudor Grey and retrimmed in red leather to the original specification. The dealer describes it as a later-specification car with factory power steering.

The history file covers six decades of work and includes copy chassis cards and build sheets. The car also comes with period seat belts, a sunroof and its small and large tools. The page gives no mileage.
