Bentley S1 Continental Flying Spur By H.J. Mulliner

The Flying Spur was H.J. Mulliner's four-door take on the S1 Continental chassis, with a lower roofline and cleaner proportions than the standard steel-bodied S1. The aluminium body is lighter than the factory saloon's and does not rust. It is among the rarest four-door Continentals of its era.

This 1958 car is finished in Velvet Green, a shade that reads as black until the sun finds it, with hand-painted gold coachlines. The interior is trimmed in tan Connolly leather and wood. It has a Nardi wooden-rimmed steering wheel, and the original wheel in good condition is included. It has a 4.9-litre straight-six and a four-speed automatic gearbox, and the odometer shows 63,215 miles.

The previous keeper owned it for more than 20 years, storing it in a heated, dehumidified garage. During that time the dealer upgraded the suspension to S3 specification for better roadholding. Service history is listed as specialist. The dealer describes it as mechanically sound but not concours cosmetically, and as presentable, usable, and suited to light cosmetic reconditioning.
