This 1954 Bentley R Type is a late 'Z' series car, chassis B15ZX, fitted with the automatic gearbox. It is finished in a two-tone buff and fawn scheme with a red leather interior and new red carpets, an unusual combination for the model.
The dealer says about £18,000 has been spent on the car. Work in 2024 included major attention to the braking system, a new exhaust, a new fuel pump and a new battery, with other work in earlier years. Compressions are described as excellent.
It has some sensible updates for modern roads. These are flashing LED indicators built into the sidelight nacelles, operated from the same switch as the original trafficators, plus Michelin radial tyres and an up-to-date radio. It is offered serviced and with a new MoT. The first owner was a Bristol advertising agency founder, and the chassis cards suggest the car later went to Arizona in the 1980s. No mileage is stated.
