Bentley Derby 4.25 Sedanca By Thrupp & Maberly

This 1936 Derby Bentley carries aluminium sedanca coachwork by Thrupp & Maberly, which the dealer describes as possibly unique. The 4.25 Litre was the "silent sports car" of the pre-war Bentley range, and the opening sedanca roof over the front seats gives this one an unusual body.

The coachwork was transferred to this chassis (B-36-GA) from another, B143CW, around 1978. It was then comprehensively restored by Clanfield Coachbuilding, Fiennes Restoration and marque specialist Tony James, among others. The work included aluminium panel and ash frame replacement, a full retrim in beige leather, rewiring in correct braided cable and the necessary mechanical work. This was completed about 30 years ago, and the car is said to have been sparingly used since.

It is finished in Masons black cellulose with beige wire wheels, and comes with an unused spare and a large history file with receipts. The interior has mahogany dashboard and door cappings. It is UK registered as CXE213, and has been kept in a heated garage.
