Bentley 4.25 Litre MR Overdrive Hooper DHC

This 1938 Derby Bentley 4.25 Litre is an MR-series car with the overdrive gearbox, carrying drophead coupé coachwork by Hooper. It was Hooper's own London Olympia Motor Show car, which gives it a documented start in life. It was then delivered to Archibald Fraser in Glasgow, and in 1942 passed to Sir Oliver Simmonds MP, who had an electro-hydraulic hood mechanism fitted by Abbotts of Farnham.

The car was restored by marque specialists Alpine Eagle of Clanfield between 2001 and 2003, with a photographic and written record of the work. The engine was rebuilt in 2009 by RR & B Garages of Bromsgrove. The history file runs to three folders and can be inspected on viewing.

The Bentley has been shown at concours and used on tours and rallies, including a trip to Pau under the current owner, and it comes with assorted awards and trophies. The dealer says Alpine Eagle has just given it a full pre-sale service. It reportedly runs at around 60 degrees, with oil pressure of 20psi at idle and over 40psi under load. It has a cabin heater and a 12V socket. It is registered OSU902 in the UK and Belgium, and the page shows the price as accepted.
