Austin Mini Fast Road/Race Car

This 1974 Austin Mini is built on an ex-Miglia race car by Bill Sollis. It is set up for sprints, hillclimbs, Miglia or classic race series and track days, yet it remains road registered.

The 1380cc engine has a Calver head, a 282 Russell camshaft, H-section rods, a balanced crank and a Weber 45 DCOE carburettor. It was recorded at 116 bhp on the dyno and has run only four hours since the build. It drives through a straight-cut close-ratio four-speed gearbox with a Quaife ATB differential. Suspension is rose-jointed and adjustable at the front, with Hi-Lo units at the rear. The brakes are vented, with alloy front calipers and a bias valve.

The shell is stripped, with a welded multi-point roll cage, polycarbonate windows and a carbon fibre bonnet. Safety kit includes a Sparco Sprint L seat, a fire extinguisher and cut-out switches. The car has MB Racing split-rim wheels, a lithium battery and a switch panel. It has lights, indicators and wipers for road use but no trim or passenger seat. The page says it has a V5, a historic MOT and an MSA Motorsport Vehicle Passport, and that the build cost around £30,000. The dealer lists it as sold.
