The BJ8 was the last and most refined of the big Healeys, with the 3000 six-cylinder, wind-up windows and a walnut dashboard. This 1965 car is finished in blue and white, though it started life green. That colour survives in the engine bay and boot.
The engine was rebuilt by Chesman Engineering in Coventry after an oil pressure problem. The block was re-bored, the crank ground and balanced, and the con rods balanced. It also has a lightened and balanced flywheel, a fast road camshaft, triple Rudd Speed inlet manifolds and three new SU carburettors. The page says it has covered 7,241 miles since the rebuild. It now has electronic ignition, and a five-speed gearbox with a high fifth replaces the original overdrive four-speed.
Work done since the last owner bought it in 2015 includes full re-upholstery, a re-French-polished dashboard, complete rewiring, a replacement windscreen and extensive re-chroming. It runs on new 72-spoke wire wheels and tyres, and the rear springs were renewed recently. Lighting changes include relay-operated indicators, separate rear brake and indicator lights, and twin-filament front sidelights with orange indicators. The car has had four previous owners.

The maker’s official figures for this model, not measurements of this car (BMC published engine specs for the 3000 Mk III (148 bhp gross at 5,250 rpm, 2,912 cc). Top speed, 0-60 and weight left null because the widely quoted figures come from period road tests, not the factory.).
£49,950 since it was listed on 5 November 2026. No changes yet.
