The Austin 20/4 was one of the more capable British cars of the vintage era, and this late-1926 example (a 1927 model-year car) carries a two-seat drophead body to the original 'Hertford' specification. The dickey seat was never fitted, with the space left free for touring luggage.
It is the product of a 20-year restoration, carried out between 2000 and 2020. The car has been repainted in pillar box red and retrimmed in black leather with grey carpets, and has a mohair hood and a full set of new side screens. It has two rear-mounted spares and cast artillery-style wheels, with six new tyres.
There are a few mechanical changes to help it keep up with modern traffic: a higher compression ratio and a taller 3.33:1 rear axle in place of the original 3.60:1. Bills are included for a full engine rebuild, a new crown wheel and pinion and an axle rebuild, along with a current V5C. Only a few hundred miles have been covered since the restoration, so the car is still being run in.

The maker’s official figures for this model, not measurements of this car (Layout only, from general historical records. No verifiable Austin factory figures for the 1926 Drophead Coupe, so performance and engine-size figures are left blank.).
£32,000 since it was listed on 6 November 2026. No changes yet.
