Aston Martin V8 Vantage GT2

This is chassis 002 of just ten Vantage GT2s built by Aston Martin Racing and Prodrive in 2008, prototype included. It was supplied new to Drayson Racing, the team run by Paul Drayson, and was campaigned through 2009 in the Le Mans Series with Drayson and Jonny Cocker. It also started the 2009 Le Mans 24 Hours, where Cocker qualified ninth in class and the car ran as high as seventh before an electrical failure ended its race with a little over two hours left.

The GT2 used a dry-sump 4.5-litre version of the road car's normally aspirated V8 with a sequential gearbox. A roll cage and extensive carbon fibre bodywork brought the weight down to 1,150kg, against 1,600kg for the road car. In period it ran on E85 bioethanol with a B-specification engine.

Drayson kept the car after its racing career. Pursuit Racing restored it over a year from 2022, finishing in 2023. It now has a Prodrive I-Specification engine, a rebuilt gearbox and new fuel tanks and plumbing, after comprehensive crack-testing. Most of the period livery and original wiring were retained, and the original B-spec engine is kept separately. It is offered ready to race with a spares package, and is eligible for Le Mans Classic Legends, Peter Auto and Motor Racing Legends series. Price on application.
