This 1979 Aston Martin V8 Vantage is an 'Oscar India' car, from the period when the Vantage was billed as Britain's first supercar. It is one of 44 built with the original Vantage 540 engine specification, before standard V8 saloon cylinder heads were fitted to later cars. It has a five-speed manual gearbox and shows 55,221 miles.
The colour is unusual: a special-order Ferrari Blu Ribot, with Magnolia hide piped in dark blue and a dashboard and top roll trimmed to match. The car has had three owners. It was supplied new through Nicholas Mee in January 1979, sold on by the same dealer in 1985 with about 12,000 miles, and then spent 39 years with one owner before returning in 2024 with 49,000 miles.
Recent work includes a full respray in the original colour, paint protection film and ceramic coating, a Connolly-specialist refurbishment of the original hides, and new Pirelli Cinturato tyres. A Blaupunkt head unit with DAB and Bluetooth has been added. Period upgrades are limited to the suspension and a factory sports exhaust. The history file includes the service book, handbook, invoices, MoT certificates, tool roll, jack and two sets of keys.
