Chassis H3/300/S is a short-chassis Aston Martin Le Mans, first registered BPA 889 in November 1933 in green with green leather. Its first owner was A. H. Boyd, later a decorated RAF fighter ace. The car has been raced almost continuously from 1947 to 2014, and the page documents class wins, lap records and a 1977 outright win in the Coupe Historiques at Le Mans. Nick Mason owned it in the late 1970s, running it through Morntane Engineering, the business that became Ecurie Bertelli.
The current owner acquired it in 1985 and developed it into a dedicated pre-war racer. It has a supercharged 2-litre engine running on methanol, quoted at around 250 bhp and 300 lb-ft. The brakes, wheels and tyres were uprated and extra control arms were added front and rear. Hydraulic brakes were fitted in 2003-04. Results include the 2001 Pre-War Aston Martin Championship, a 13.88-second standing quarter-mile record in 2002 and the Jimmy Gibbon Trophy at Bo'ness in 2014.
It is offered at a guide price. A rebuilt Le Mans engine is available with the car, along with a substantial collection of original components and trophies. The dealer says it is ready to race after recommissioning, or could return to road use after a programme of work.
