This DB6 was first registered on 28 July 1967 and has a well-documented ownership story. Its first owner was a Sutton Coldfield builder, and it later passed to David Thomas, father of the current owner, Julian Thomas of Race Logic and VBox fame. After David's death in 1990 it was sold at auction. Julian bought it back at the Bonhams sale at the Aston Martin factory in Newport Pagnell in 2015.
The odometer is not a reliable guide. It stopped working in 2000 at 53,357 miles, a figure supported by MOT certificates. An estimate of roughly 85,000 miles was made at the 2015 sale. A 1972 letter from Smiths Industries also records that the original speedometer over-read by 8%.
Work on file includes a full inspection and service at Aston Martin Works in 1990 (£10,000 of invoices), a Borg & Beck clutch in 1996 and new brake servos in 2015. Desmond Smail of Olney has maintained the car since 2015, most recently with an engine overhaul. The file also holds letters and invoices going back to the 1970s, including correspondence with Victor Gauntlett, and the original Lake & Elliot jack.
