Aston Martin DB4 Series II

This DB4 Series II, chassis DB4/415/R, was supplied new through Raymond Mays to Rowland Hunt of Aswardby Hall, Lincolnshire, in November 1960. Series II cars brought opening rear quarter lights, a front-hinged bonnet, a larger sump and uprated oil pump and front brake callipers. Only a few hundred were built, which makes this a scarce car among Touring-bodied Aston Martins.

It was originally Wedgewood Blue and is now California Sage Metallic with black leather, in keeping with its original interior specification. A later DB4-series engine (370/894) was fitted in the 1960s in place of the original. The top end has since been overhauled with a big-valve cylinder head, and Chicane Classics have reworked the steering, brakes, suspension, exhaust and tyres at a cost of over £30,000.

The car was in a private European collection from the late 1980s until 2014 and has more recently been maintained by Nicholas Mee. It comes with its original registration SCT 415, the V5C, a bound history file with restoration invoices, a copy of the build record and a continuation logbook. The page gives no mileage.
