Aston Martin DB4 Series 1

This is a very early right-hand-drive DB4 Series 1, one of only 76 built in that configuration out of 149 Series 1 cars. Factory records show it as the third right-hand-drive DB4 produced at Newport Pagnell, and it was originally fitted with a pre-production "PP" engine number. It served as Aston Martin's London demonstrator before delivery to its first owner in October 1959.

In the early 1970s it passed to Richard Williams, founder of marque specialist R.S. Williams, who turned it into a fast-road car and used it in Aston Martin Owners' Club events and hill climbs. It gained a 4.0-litre DB6 engine, Vantage-style triple Weber carburettors and subtly flared arches for wider wire wheels. It was later owned for over 30 years by a Mr Laffan before being sold in 2016.

A recent restoration by Pugsley & Lewis and Prestige Restorations, costing more than £222,000, included an engine rebuild to 4.2-litre specification and conversion to unleaded fuel. The car is finished in Ferrari Blu Scozia with a Vaumol Tan hide interior, and has factory air conditioning, power steering and Bluetooth. The history file holds the factory build sheet, Heritage Certificate, historic MOT certificates, original buff logbook and BMIHT documentation. Price is on application.
