Aston Martin DB2/4 Race

This 1953 Aston Martin DB2/4 is a period saloon that has been built and used as a competition car. It is right-hand drive, finished in Oxford Blue with a black leather interior and a five-point harness. The 2,922cc engine has been rebuilt, and the page puts output at about 220 bhp with a top speed of around 130 mph.

The car has had three owners from new. Its history includes a full rebuild and bare-metal respray after specialist John Goldsmith bought it in 2008. A further £90,000 or so was spent between 2010 and 2017. In that time it was raced and rallied at events including the Le Mans Classic (three times), Tour Auto, where it finished fourth, and the Goodwood Members' Meeting. It was converted to SU carburettors and had its gearbox rebuilt in 2017, then went into storage.

It came out of storage in 2025, when about £20,000 was spent on recommissioning and on making it more suitable for the road. The work included a replumbed fuel tank, new brake cylinders and master cylinder, and new front drums and shoes. It comes with the original green log book, a large invoiced service file, and current HTP and FIVA papers.
