The DB2/4 was the first Aston Martin of the Feltham era to add occasional rear seats, and it used the 2,922cc Vantage engine, quoted here at around 140 bhp. Mulliner's cast-aluminium bodywork, sills and bulkhead make it one of the more robust post-war Astons. This car, chassis LML/886, was supplied new in May 1955 through agent E.H. Organ & Sons.
Its history is unusually well documented. An early owner won his class at the 1957 AMOC Banbury Concours, and a later owner, Alan Archer, later an AMOC registrar and chairman, took it to a class win and the Denman Trophy at the 1964 Fort Belvedere Concours. Many of the original award plaques remain with the car. A recently compiled history report covers its time in America and its return to Europe in 2004. It is described as a matching-numbers car with its original first-issued 1955 registration.
The car has been refinished in its original Moonbeam Grey over red leather after a bare-metal repaint, a full engine rebuild and mechanical and trim recommissioning by marque specialists. It comes with the original instruction book, the correct tools in the front armrest, two period jacks, an air pump, a grease gun and the history file.
