The DB2/4 was Aston Martin's step from pure sports car towards the 2+2 grand tourer, and it was among the first high-end sports cars to offer a rear hatch. This 1955 coupe has the 2.9-litre straight-six introduced in 1954, with a four-speed manual gearbox and right-hand drive.
It was bought in 2016 as a barn find after more than 40 years under a tarpaulin in a heated workshop. It then received a full nut-and-bolt restoration. Parts that could be saved were overhauled, and those that could not were replaced with original or remanufactured items from Aston Service Dorset. It is a matching-numbers car, with the original engine rebuilt to zero-time specification, and the transmission and brakes have been overhauled.
The car is refinished in its original Moonbeam Grey with a leather interior to original specification, and it comes with period-correct tools and a jack. The odometer reads 21,020 miles, believed correct. Since the restoration it has been kept in a controlled-environment private collection and used sparingly. The dealer lists it as eligible for the Mille Miglia. The price is on application.
