The DB Mk III was the last of the Tadek Marek-developed, Lagonda-derived twin-cam six-cylinder cars before the DB4, and this one carries the rarer DB/D Special Series engine. That package, with triple SU carburettors and a factory twin-exhaust system, lifted output to roughly 180 bhp. The page says only 47 cars were built to this specification, and that this is a right-hand-drive car in a run dominated by left-hand-drive examples.
Factory records show it was supplied new through Brooklands of Bond Street and first registered in May 1959 to a Dr Fullerton of Dorset. He used it as daily transport for almost twenty years and about 66,000 miles before selling it in 1978. The history file lists six keepers from new.
The current owner commissioned a chassis-up restoration, with Trinity Engineering named for the finish, and a full engine rebuild by Oscelli. It is now painted Dubonnet Rosso with black Connolly leather, new Borrani wire wheels and refurbished brightwork. Power-assisted steering has been added. A Heritage Certificate, original factory records and a photographic record of the restoration come with it. The car was originally Peony.
