Aston Martin DB Mk III

The DB Mk III was the last Aston Martin to use the Claude Hill chassis and the Tadek Marek-developed Lagonda six, and the first to carry the classic Aston grille. Only 551 were built between 1957 and 1959, and this 1958 car is a rare, well-documented example.

It has been with the same family since June 1983, and is the third owner's car. He and his father, a mechanic who worked with the Aston Martin works team under John Wyer, prepared it for club circuit and sprint events with the Aston Martin Owners' Club. A rolling restoration ran from 1983 to 2004, with work continuing since.

Modifications include triple Weber carburettors, a DB 2/4 cylinder head, a twin exhaust, a racing clutch, race harnesses, a glass-fibre bonnet and retuned suspension. Power is estimated at 178 bhp, driving through a four-speed manual gearbox with overdrive. The engine and rear axle have been rebuilt, and the car is repainted in Oxford Blue. It shows 91,500 miles.
