The TD21 was Alvis's late-1950s answer to the loss of its traditional coachbuilders, pairing the company's own six-cylinder chassis with a Graber-derived body built by Park Ward. This 1961 car, registered KSJ 181, has its history from new, including the first bill of sale to Lord Leigh of Stoneleigh, and a service record that runs from 2011.
It was originally an automatic, but was converted to a four-speed manual with Laycock overdrive during a body-off restoration between 1988 and 1992. From 2020 to 2022 Earley Engineering overhauled the engine, clutch, gearbox and suspension, at a cost of £27,000. The engine now runs to TE21 specification with a higher compression ratio and electronic ignition, giving roughly 140 bhp against the standard 115 bhp.
Other work includes a beige leather interior retrimmed in 2011-12 with a West of England cloth headlining, rebuilt and re-enamelled wire wheels on new tyres, electric power steering, an alternator in place of the dynamo, LED lighting and retractable seat belts. The car is MOT exempt but has a good recent MOT record. The work is backed by photographs and receipts, and the car has been shown locally and used on Alvis Owner Club events.
