The Allard P1 is the car Sydney Allard drove to victory in the 1952 Monte Carlo Rally. It is a coach-built two-door sports saloon with an aluminium body, steel wings and Ford Pilot-based running gear. Only 550 were built between 1949 and 1952, and very few survive on the road. This example is described as number 12 of the run and was first registered on 15 November 1949.
Power comes from a 3.6-litre Ford flathead V8, a replacement unit overhauled by Beltcher Engineering, with twin exhausts and an electric cooling fan. The gearbox is a three-speed manual. Original details remain, including the rear window blind, under-bonnet inspection lights and a clock in the mirror.
A professional strip-down and refurbishment has been carried out, with corroded metal cut out and replaced. The car was resprayed in its original factory grey, the wheels refurbished and the headlining renewed. The grey leather seats were retrimmed by a previous owner. The history file includes the original buff logbook, MOT certificates back to 1988 and maintenance invoices. It records a documented 46,341 miles in 1984, and a 1992 Allard club trip to Monte Carlo. The page gives no current mileage.
