Listed today at Vintage & Prestige, Northampton. Last checked today.
The Allard K3 paired a light British chassis with a big American V8, and this 1953 car follows that formula with a Cadillac 331ci engine and a Moss four-speed gearbox. It is built to the specification of a 1954 Watkins Glen entry and has been used for circuit racing, hillclimbs and road events.
The engine was built by RW Racing and made 300hp on the dyno. It has recently been stripped and fitted with new shell bearings. Recent work also includes the half shafts, a differential rebuild, brake linings and wheel cylinders, plus an overhauled tacho, a new five-core radiator and new Blockley tyres. The original windscreen, door glass and bumpers come with the car.
It was imported from the USA in 2006 and has been with the same owner since. It has completed the Copperstate 1000 and appeared in the Le Mans support race in 2009. The dealer says it holds FIA papers to 2029 and was a VSCC invited car. A history file includes manuals, photos and lap times. The listing is marked as accepted, which suggests an offer has been agreed.
