One of just 99 Allard J2s built, MWE 254 was the tenth off the line and a rare Home Market car. It was delivered to Tate of Leeds in January 1950 with a Ford Mercury V8, but its first owner, Maurice Wilde, fitted the newly available Cadillac overhead-valve V8 and raced it through 1950 and 1951, taking a podium at Croft.
Later owners include Nick Mason's Ten Tenths Collection, which repatriated it from the USA in 1987, and Frank Sytner. It was then prepared for the Mille Miglia by Malcolm Verey. The current owner has had it overhauled and renovated by Allard specialists RW Racing Services, and the engine has since been rebuilt by Pace Historics.
It has recent FIA HTP papers and a FIVA Identity Card. It comes with a detachable roll-cage, steel wheels and hubs, and a spare wheel carrier. The fitted gearbox is a four-speed Moss unit, and a three-speed La Salle gearbox and propshaft are included for FIA regulations. The car has seen little use since being shaken down on track.

The maker’s official figures for this model, not measurements of this car (No single factory figure set: J2s used a range of customer-specified American V8 engines (e.g. Cadillac 331, Mercury/Ardun), so power, weight and performance varied car to car and are left null.).
£235,000 since it was listed on 6 November 2026. No changes yet.
