This is an early-production, right-hand-drive AC Ace, chassis AE69, first registered in Surrey in April 1955. It is the Bristol-engined car that preceded the Cobra, finished in Pacific Green, a rare factory colour, with a black leather interior.
The car is believed to have gone back to the factory in early 1960 to receive the sought-after Bristol D2 engine. John Gardiner of Crosthwaite and Gardiner, the historic racing engineering firm, bought it in 1966. He began a full restoration in 2005 and finished it shortly before his death in 2007. The page says it covered only about 800 miles afterwards.
A later owner had several modifications made for touring, including more comfortable seats. The original seats come with the car. A history file holds the buff logbook, restoration photographs, recent invoices and MOTs. The page says it is being offered for only the second time in 55 years. The price is on application.

The maker’s official figures for this model, not measurements of this car (Engine figures are from AC/Bristol 1,971 cc six-cylinder records. Power, weight and performance are left blank because the Bristol engine came in several tunes and the usual figures come from magazine road tests, not AC. AC offered the Bristol engine in the Ace from about 1956, so a 1955 model year should be checked.).
