About this car

The Wolseley 24/30HP was the company's up-market model, built between 1911 and 1915. This 1913 car carries two-seater coachwork and a five-litre six-cylinder engine, with the cylinders cast in three pairs on a common crankshaft. It was sold new to a Mr Cecil J. Sadler of Durham through the Newcastle agents George & Jobling, and stayed in the same ownership until the early 1960s. The next owner researched its history and secured its original registration, J1296. The car is VCC dated (certificate 2513) as being of 1913 origin.

The dealer says about £30,000 has been spent on it over the last two years. The work includes a full engine rebuild with new liners, piston rings, valves and guides, plus a new fuel tank and pump, new brake shoes, two new front springs and two new tyres. All five wheels have been refurbished, and the Rudge-Whitworth locking hubs rebuilt. The carburettor has been overhauled, and electronic ignition has been fitted for easier starting. The air compressor is not connected. The dealer reports more than 500 miles since the rebuild.

The upright coachwork dates from the 1980s. It has a black leather bench seat, a black mohair hood in good condition, brass lamps and horn, and a period-style dash. It is finished in burgundy and black with gold pinstriping. The page lists no odometer reading.
