The 6hp was Rover's small, simple answer to the early motor car: a 783cc single-cylinder, side-valve, water-cooled machine with three forward gears and a single-plate clutch worked from the steering wheel. Around 2,300 were built before production ended in 1912, and it helped establish Rover's name for affordable, well-made light cars.
This 1906 example was first supplied through Albert Farnells of Bradford, a cycle engineer that went on to sell Rover cars for more than 70 years. Registered AK146, it stayed with one family in Poole, Dorset for 82 years and has since returned to the Farnell family. It is finished in green with brightly polished brass. Price is on application and no mileage is stated.
