Renault 5 GT Turbo

The Renault 5 GT Turbo is one of the defining hot hatches of the 1980s: a small, front-drive three-door with a 1.4-litre turbo engine and a reputation for lively, slightly wayward handling. This 1989 car is finished in Electric Blue and has covered 107,000 miles.

It has been with its current keeper for almost 19 years, and the last six of those were spent on a restoration. The work covered inner and outer sills, floor pan repairs, the windscreen surround and the front and rear arches. The car was then resprayed, flow coated and fitted with new decals. The interior has been retrimmed in Phase 2 fabric with the correct grey carpet set, and it keeps its uncut door cards and original speaker grilles. An AFR gauge replaces the original clock.

Mechanically it is largely standard, with a VNT turbo running about 17psi, a lightened flywheel, a cup breather setup and an AP Racing four-paddle clutch. The page quotes 120 bhp.
