This 1969 Porsche 911 E is presented as the first long-wheelbase 911 Porsche built, a prototype that keeps its matching-numbers components. The E stands for Einspritzung, marking the factory's first fuel-injected road car, and this one carries Bosch mechanical fuel injection, a magnesium crankcase and the aluminium-cased 901/03 gearbox. The dealer also describes it as the first Porsche with CDI ignition. The 57mm of extra wheelbase was Porsche's answer to the oversteer of the earlier short-wheelbase cars.
Its history is unusual. Imported through Porsche Cars Great Britain in 1969, it was first owned by racer Robs Lamplough, then passed to Paddy McNally and on to Jo Siffert, the Swiss Formula One and Porsche works driver. It then spent more than 25 years under hay bales in Scotland before being found in 2011.
A Porsche enthusiast bought it in 2012 and commissioned a full restoration using Auto Classica, GDC Automotive, Redtek and Gibson's, at a stated cost of over £280,000. It is finished in Ivory White with a red vinyl and corduroy interior, and shows 81 miles. It retains some early details, including short-wheelbase indicators, horn grilles and dash top, and it has been displayed at the Autoworld exhibition in Brussels.

The maker’s official figures for this model, not measurements of this car (Porsche factory data for the 1969 B-series 911 E: 140 PS DIN (138 bhp), 1991 cc, 215 km/h. Weight and 0-60 left out because I couldn't confirm the published figures, and the factory only gave 0-100 km/h.).
