Listed today at Bicester Sports & Classics, Bicester.
An early right-hand-drive MGB roadster in Tartan Red, fitted with the overdrive that makes the car easier to live with at speed. Chrome-bumper cars of this age are increasingly hard to find in sound, usable condition.
The car was restored in 1994 by an MG specialist, using the original shell with new panels where needed. The engine and gearbox were reconditioned at the same time. The page says it has covered only around 8,000 miles since.
Recent work includes new tyres and brakes, a 12-volt battery conversion and a major recommissioning service in April 2026. This car has now been sold.

The maker’s official figures for this model, not measurements of this car (BMC/British Leyland published 95 bhp (gross) at 5,400 rpm for the 1798cc B-series engine. Weight, top speed and acceleration left blank: the widely quoted figures come from magazine road tests, not the factory.).
