Mercedes-Benz W111 250SE Cabriolet

The 250 SE Cabriolet was the rarest of the W111 line, built only between September 1965 and December 1967, with 954 made. Paul Bracq's design is defined by smooth, rounded rear wings, and the Bosch mechanically injected 2.5-litre six, with its seven-bearing crankshaft, suited it to long-distance touring rather than sporting driving.

This example was first registered in the UK in June 1966 and is finished in white over navy blue leather. It shows 35,000 miles. The first owner kept it for 18 years, after which it passed to a Midlands motorcycle business owner. In the late 1980s and 1990s it had a cylinder head refresh, a replacement gearbox from Mercedes-Benz Germany and a new hood, and was then stored dry and lightly used.

The SL Shop carried out £17,000 of brake, suspension and cosmetic work in 2015. A further restoration between 2021 and 2023, costing over £100,000, covered bodywork, a full engine rebuild with an electric fan and new oil cooler, electrics, and the fuel system with new Bosch injectors. It has a Bluetooth conversion hidden in a Becker radio, and is ULEZ exempt.
