Mercedes-Benz 280SL

This 1969 280SL is the final-generation W113 'Pagoda', fitted with the automatic gearbox and finished in Sand Beige over black MB-Tex. It has covered 64,607 miles and has survived as a cared-for original rather than a restored car, though some panels, mainly the front wings, have been repainted over the years with a close colour match.

Ownership history is unusually well documented. Seven keepers are recorded, and a Mr Shashou owned it from 1980. In 2014 he spent more than £24,000 on an overhaul that included repainting some sections, a new brown hood, period-correct carpet, a new fuel pump, overhauled brakes and a full service. In 2021 the gearbox, engine and subframe mounts and both rear callipers were replaced.

Departures from standard are limited to an audio system that accepts MP3/4 files and a later W123 E-Class ignition. The paint has a single stone chip and a scuff by one headlamp, and the seats show an even patina. The hood was replaced recently. The car comes with a 24-month warranty from the dealer.
