Mercedes-Benz 280SL

This 1969 280SL is a late W113 "Pagoda", the version with the fuel-injected 2.8-litre M130 six, and it is paired here with an automatic gearbox. It is finished in Light Beige (670) over red leather. The matching hardtop carries the same paint code and is described as the factory-original unit.

The car was first delivered to Salem, Massachusetts. It has European-specification bumpers but keeps its original American-market headlights and side reflectors. The history file includes the May 1969 owner's service book and sales invoice, maintenance invoices from the late 1970s onwards, and California title records into the 2010s. It came to the UK in 2017 with a Mercedes-Benz UK homologation certificate, and the dealer says it has covered fewer than 50 miles since arriving. The odometer shows 96,000.

After an inspection in 2020, the car was restored in 2023–24 at a cost of more than £60,000. The work included a full engine overhaul, electronic ignition, a new exhaust, fuel lines, kingpins, overhauled brakes and a reconditioned gearbox. The body had fabrication work and fresh paint. The leather was re-trimmed, and the car has new seatbelts, seals and a restored soft top.
