Mercedes-Benz 220SEb Cabriolet

The 220SEb was the fuel-injected, top-specification version of Mercedes-Benz's "Fintail"-era W111 open car, a four-seat cabriolet built in small numbers and now among the more usable classic Mercedes. This one was first registered in March 1966 and still wears its original colour scheme of Silver Grey Metallic over blue leather.

It has had four previous keepers and was restored over several years by Border Reivers of Glasgow, with invoices said to exceed £50,000. The engine was overhauled in early 2024 and the automatic gearbox rebuilt in 2019. The car has covered 64,000 miles and was displayed at Mercedes-Benz World in recent years.

The history file is extensive. It includes the stamped service booklets with the pre-delivery inspection and services up to 1979 (36,031 miles, all by Mercedes-Benz of Brentford), plus original brochures, a parts catalogue, a copy of the data card, MOTs back to 1982 and copies of earlier registration documents.
