A 1956 Land Rover Series One 107 built up as a period recovery truck, supplied new through Rice Brothers of Horsham in Sussex. It is the sort of specialist-bodied Series One that rarely turns up in collection-grade condition.
The restoration was carried out in the 1990s and amounted to close to a recreation, with a full nut-and-bolt rebuild and mostly new body panels. It carries a Harvey Frost crane, bumper-mounted winch, trolley jacks and original-style oil bottles and cans. It has a rebuilt 2.0-litre petrol engine and a later Series II four-speed gearbox with strengthened bearings, fitted to improve drivability.
The truck completed the 1996 London to Brighton run and appeared in Land Rover World magazine. It spent time in North Carolina from around 2006 until 2017, then joined a Kent collection where it was regularly maintained. The dealer reports it driving well. Mileage is not stated.

The maker’s official figures for this model, not measurements of this car (Rover published engine figures for the 2.0-litre petrol Series I. The recovery body was usually a specialist conversion, and no factory weight, top speed or acceleration figures were confirmed for it.).
