Land Rover Discovery II ES V8

This is an early Discovery II in top-of-the-range ES V8 specification, and one of the press-launch cars. It was first registered in August 1998, ahead of the September press launch. The page says it was one of the vehicles used for the re-run of Hannibal's Alpine crossing, which was part of the Best 4x4xFar promotion.

The car has been extensively upgraded. A John Eales 4.6-litre V8 now produces 259 bhp and 307 lb ft. The work also includes a rebuilt four-speed automatic gearbox, sports suspension, cross-drilled discs with uprated calipers and pads, a larger aluminium radiator with twin electric fans, and a stainless exhaust. The dealer puts the cost of the work at about £30,000.

The ES specification includes seven seats, leather, electric seats, twin sunroofs, air conditioning and a Harman Kardon stereo upgrade. The odometer reads 95,250 miles, of which 797 have been covered since the work was finished. The page cites a complete service history, original manual and brochure, and a recent service with a fresh MoT without advisories. The paint is described as original, in Epsom Green over dark beige.
