Land Rover Series III Lightweight

This is a 1974 Land Rover Series 3 Lightweight in ex-military 24-volt form, the air-portable version built for the British Army. It carries the military number 31 GB 45 and has a documented service history, beginning with 21 SAS in 1975 and followed by a succession of units on public guard and ceremonial duties at Royal premises in central London.

A ground-up restoration was carried out around 2015, with the manuals and restoration records stored on a USB stick. Very few miles have been covered since. The original engine, a three-bearing-crank unit, was rebuilt and repainted in military colour. The 24-volt system remains in place, though the car runs on a 12-volt conversion.

The page describes straight body panels, a solid bulkhead with its original pressed footwells, and a chassis that needs no outriggers. Both fuel tanks are fitted and the changeover valve works.
