An early Land Rover Series 1 with the original 1.6-litre petrol four and a manual gearbox, first registered on 8 September 1949. It is finished in green and shows 51,950 miles.
The emphasis here is the mechanical work. Exeter Engineering of Cornwall rebuilt the engine: the cylinders were rebored for oversized pistons, parts were blasted back to bare metal, and the rotating assembly was reground, polished and dynamically balanced with pistons height-matched. A Cox and Turner camshaft and rebuilt oil pump were fitted, along with new rockers, shafts, springs, sprockets and a new clutch.
The carburettor has been rebuilt, the water pump exchanged and a new thermostat fitted, while the starter was repainted only. A fuller PDF record with workshop photographs of the build is available, and the V5 is held.

The maker’s official figures for this model, not measurements of this car (Rover Company published engine data for the 1.6 (1595cc) petrol four, rated at 50 bhp at 4,000 rpm. Weight, top speed and acceleration left null because no confirmed factory figures were found. Drive is selectable four-wheel drive.).
