Jaguar XK140 SE DHC

The XK140 SE was the Special Equipment version of Jaguar's 1954 update to the XK120, with rack and pinion steering, telescopic dampers and a roomier cabin. This 1955 drophead coupe has the C-Type cylinder head, twin exhausts, wire wheels with centre-lock fixings and twin fog lamps, all listed as part of its original specification.

It was first delivered through Max Hoffman in New York in June 1955 and was repatriated in 1988 as a stalled project. It was first UK registered in 1992 as TSK 491, having been restored and converted from left- to right-hand drive. A Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate records its factory finish of Cream with red leather and a black hood. It is now Old English White over red leather.

A later round of work by Classic Motor Cars of Bridgnorth added a Getrag five-speed manual gearbox, electronic ignition, an electric cooling fan and fuel pump, and an unleaded-compatible cylinder head conversion. The original bucket seats are retained with the car. Indicated mileage is 16,844. It comes with a large history file, evidence of Jaguar Drivers' Club concours wins and a spare set of body-coloured wire wheels.
