Jaguar Mark 8 Saloon

The Mark 8 was Jaguar's big, chrome-laden luxury saloon of the late 1950s, powered by the XK straight-six. This one was built in November 1957 and dispatched at the end of December through Henlys of London. It was supplied by Russell's Garage in Chatham to its first owner, a Lieutenant Colonel from Hindhead. A Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate records the original Indigo Blue over Cotswold Blue paint and grey leather interior.

It was restored body-off between 2008 and 2015 after its previous keeper bought it in 2002. The work covered a refinished chassis, overhauled suspension, new brakes and tyres, refurbished fuel tanks, a new wiring harness and a replacement, more powerful XK engine of the correct type. Upgrades include power steering, an electric choke and negative-earth electrics. The interior is now cream leather piped in dark blue, with refinished burr walnut and new carpets. The car also has a large sunroof.

The history file includes the Heritage certificate, the original UK V5, German registration papers, restoration invoices and photographs, and a 2016 Big Saloons on Tour certificate. The car returned from a German collection and is EEC taxes paid. The dealer is in the process of registering it in the UK, so no plate is shown. No mileage is stated.
