About this car
The F430 Spider F1 occupies a particular place in Ferrari's lineage: the last of the truly mechanical, naturally aspirated mid-engined V8 roadsters before electronics and turbos began to dominate. Its 4.3-litre V8, spinning freely to 8,500 rpm, remains one of the most characterful engines Ferrari has made, and the open-air Spider body only amplifies it. This 2008 example has covered 30,000 miles over 17 years — a modest total for a car of this age that suggests restrained but engaged ownership rather than neglect, and it comes with a strong service history to back that up.
The colour combination is well-judged: Nero Daytona over Nero leather with Grigio Chiaro stitching is properly restrained — a period-correct choice that wears well and doesn't date. The spec includes some worthwhile additions: electric Daytona-style seats, carbon fibre dashboard inserts, the yellow rev counter, and upgraded LED tail lights are all tasteful additions, while the full paint protection film coverage protects what appears to be a well-presented exterior.
The F1 single-clutch paddle-shift gearbox, which gives this car its suffix, remains a defining part of the F430 driving experience — faster than the manual in outright gear changes, with a character distinctly its own. As these cars appreciate steadily and low-mileage examples become harder to find, a 30,000-mile Spider F1 with good history and sensible spec is an increasingly difficult combination to source.
