This 1930 Bentley Speed Six, chassis SB2774, has been rebuilt over the past two years as a Le Mans-style tourer by Rolls-Royce and Bentley specialist James Black in Northern Ireland. It arrived with him as a project, with the chassis already shortened from the original 11ft 6in wheelbase to the Le Mans length of 11ft 2½in. The engine is said to match the chassis, and the C-type gearbox is the one specified and fitted when the car was new.
The specification reflects the period competition look: twin magnetos, a Le Mans-style fuel tank, Marechal lamps, cord-wrapped leaf springs and lightweight bucket seats trimmed in new green leather. It runs on refinished wire wheels with new Michelin 700 x 21 tyres, and rally plaques from the 1930s to the 1950s are fixed to the dash.
The engine is still being run in, with a couple of hundred shakedown miles planned. The car is UK-registered as GH8974 and the price is on application.

The maker’s official figures for this model, not measurements of this car (Only the engine layout is given: Bentley 6½ Litre, a 6,597 cc straight-six with a single overhead camshaft. No reliable factory figures exist for power, weight or performance. Pre-war power quotes vary from about 160 to 200 bhp, and these coachbuilt tourers were bodied one by one, so the fields are left null.).
