Bentley S2

This Bentley S2 was completed in December 1959 and is finished in Sage Green over Smoke Green with a green hide interior. The colour scheme is unusual for the period, and the car is described as being in largely original condition, with a four-speed automatic gearbox and the 6.2-litre engine fed by twin SU carburettors.

Its history is unusually well documented. It was maintained by the Mayfair dealer HA Fox, then sold in 1972 to a former apprentice who had worked on it and who shipped it to Seattle at 27,932 miles. He kept it for 38 years, and it returned to the UK in 2010 with about 59,000 miles. Photographs, an old MoT and tax disc, and a television-studio windscreen pass from a previous owner are in the history file.

The car has covered about 6,500 miles in the past twelve years, for a total of roughly 66,500. Work listed includes a service with brake servo overhaul and gearbox band adjustment, restored veneers, a new wool headlining, repolished wheel discs and discreetly fitted air conditioning. A Becker Bluetooth and sat-nav stereo has also been added. Servicing has been carried out by Chelsea Workshop, and the dealer lists more than £15,500 spent there in the three years before COVID.
