Bentley 3/4½ Litre Le Mans Tourer

This 1924 Bentley, chassis 487, is a short-chassis 3 Litre that has been fitted with a 4½ Litre engine and Le Mans-style coachwork. That combination is widely regarded as the most desirable way to specify a vintage Bentley. The previous owner, the late Stanley Mann, bought it for that reason.

The specification follows the Le Mans pattern. The engine breathes through twin sloper carburettors and the car has a 4.5-litre radiator and a large fuel tank. It also has a bellows-type servo for the brakes, driving lamps, mesh-protected headlamps, freshly powder-coated wire wheels and an overdrive. The ash-framed body is covered in green rexine, with matching green leather and carpets and a full set of Le Mans instruments.

The car has been with its current owner for about a decade and has seen little use in the last five years. The dealer then had it fully recommissioned by RC Moss, the Bentley specialist, and some miles were added afterwards. The dealer says the specialist judged it to be in perfect running order. It is UK-registered as XR3400. The page shows the price as "Accepted", so an offer appears to have been agreed.
