About this car

This is the Golf R in estate form: the 2.0-litre turbocharged TSI four-cylinder, seven-speed DSG and 4Motion all-wheel drive of the hatchback, with a 605-litre boot that grows to 1,620 litres with the seats folded. It is a quick, usable family car that does not look the part from a distance.

The car is finished in Pure White over a black interior with Alcantara and race-fabric sports seats carrying R logos. Equipment includes Discover navigation, adaptive cruise control, the Active Info Display digital cluster, LED headlights with dynamic cornering lights, heated front seats, front and rear parking sensors and black 18-inch Cadiz alloys.

It has covered 35,000 miles and has part service history. The page notes that the Haldex four-wheel-drive coupling was serviced last year. A six-month warranty is included.

Performance

The maker’s official figures for this model, not measurements of this car (Volkswagen UK press figures for 2017 Mk7.5 Golf R (310PS, top speed limited to 155 mph); only 0-62 mph published (4.6s DSG / 5.1s manual), so 0-60 is null; kerb weight varies by body and gearbox. Early-2017 Mk7 cars had 300PS (296bhp)).
