Toyota 88C Group C

Chassis 87C-007 is one of just two factory-works Toyota 88C Group C prototypes built for the 1988 season. It is the only 88C to have run at Le Mans in the Taka-Q / New Man livery, and the only one of the two Le Mans cars in private hands.

In works hands it contested the All Japan Sports Prototype Car Endurance Championship and the World Sports-Prototype Championship, including Fuji, Suzuka and the Le Mans 24 Hours. Paolo Barilla, Tiff Needell, Stefan Johansson and Hitoshi Ogawa drove it, and it finished 5th at Suzuka. For 1989 it moved to Dan Gurney's All American Racers for the IMSA GTP Championship. Juan Manuel Fangio II, Drake Olson, Chris Cord and Willy T. Ribbs drove it there. It took poles at Lime Rock and Road America, 2nd at San Antonio, and 3rd at Watkins Glen and West Palm Beach.

The current owner bought it in 2018 and had it fully stripped and restored by Tim Preston's historic F1 specialists. AER Ltd rebuilt the engine. A second freshly rebuilt AER engine and an extensive spares package are included. The page gives no price, mileage or registration.
