Listed today at Duke of London, Brentford. Last checked today.
This is a David Brookes-built recreation of the Shelby Daytona Coupe, made to 1965 specification rather than as a loose homage. The aluminium body is hand-formed to the period dimensions, over a tubular steel chassis that follows the original blueprint layout, including the suspension pick-up points and roll cage arrangement.
Power comes from a Knight Racing-built 289cu in V8 based on a genuine 1965 block, fed by four Weber carburettors and dyno tested at 437bhp. It drives through a Borg-Warner T-10 four-speed manual gearbox, with transverse leaf-spring suspension, Koni dampers, peg-drive wheels and Dunlop Racing historic tyres. The Rosso Nearco paint is a change from the usual blue and white livery.
The car is road registered and comes with an FIA Historic Technical Passport, which provides the basis for entry to eligible pre-1966 historic events, subject to organisers' acceptance. Safety equipment includes a plumbed-in fire suppression system, an electrical cut-off and a driver-to-co-driver headset system. The odometer reads 1,361.
