This is chassis 3BU2, one of only nine two-door coupes built on the Phantom III chassis, out of 727 chassis produced. Barker built just this one in the style, with a rear dickey seat for two extra passengers, and it is among the rarest closed bodies on the Rolls-Royce V12 of the period.
Completed in December 1936 and originally painted London smoke grey, it was delivered new to Mrs Frances Bell of Long Island, New York, one of very few Phantom IIIs sent to the United States. It stayed there for almost ninety years, passing through several American owners, including a Connecticut architect and a west-coast collection. The engine was rebuilt in the 1990s by Dennison-Jayne Motors in Pennsylvania, a specialist in pre-war Rolls-Royce and Bentley.
The car returned to the UK in late 2025 and has since been reviewed and prepared by Alpine Eagle in Oxfordshire. It is now black and burgundy with a burgundy leather interior, right-hand drive. It comes with its original handbook, two small tool sets under the front seat cushions and a history file of copy chassis cards and period documents. The price is on enquiry.

The maker’s official figures for this model, not measurements of this car (Rolls-Royce Phantom III chassis specification (7,338cc V12). Rolls-Royce never published power output, and weight and performance depended on each Barker coachbuilt body, so those are left null.).
