This is a 2022 build that recreates the 1973 Carrera RSR 3.0 in a road-going touring specification, not a factory car. The starting point was a 1971 911T, sourced in Holland and originally from California, which was stripped to bare metal, KTL dip-coated and rebuilt with RSR-style steel and composite panels. It is painted in Glasur Blue, a factory colour from 1972-73, and the owner nicknamed it 'Schtroumpf'.
The engine is a 3.0-litre twin-plug flat-six with mechanical fuel injection, built by APP Racing Engines. It uses Carrillo rods, Capricorn pistons and Schrick valve gear, and is quoted at 310 bhp at 8,000rpm with 315 lb ft of torque at 6,500rpm. The magnesium-cased 915 five-speed gearbox has been rebuilt with a short-ratio gearset and a ZF limited-slip differential. Bilstein coilovers, four-pot finned brakes with an adjustable bias pedal box and Fuchs wheels complete the chassis.
The interior follows RS Touring lines, with black perforated leather ST seats and electric air conditioning. The odometer was zeroed at the end of the build and shows 7,333 kilometres, which is a fair amount of use for a car like this. It is left-hand drive, and a detailed build file with dyno charts and documentation is included.
